The journal uses open-source software for the management of peer-reviewed academic journals, the Open Journal System created by the Public Knowledge Project and released under the GNU General Public License. Instructions for the submission using OJS are available on the following link https://openjournalsystems.com/ojs-3-user-guide/submitting-an-article/

Submitted manuscripts should be full-length original research articles, excluding technical reports and short publications such as communications, comments, notes, data in brief (data articles), and case reports.
The Archives of Biological Sciences is a multidisciplinary journal that covers original research in subjects in life science, including biology, ecology, human biology and biomedical research. The Archives of Biological Sciences features scientific research articles in genetics, botany, zoology, higher and lower terrestrial and aquatic plants and animals, prokaryote biology, algology, mycology, entomology, biological systematics, evolution, biochemistry, molecular and cell biology, including all aspects of normal cell functioning, from embryonic to differentiated tissues and in different pathological states, physiology, chronobiology, thermal biology, cryobiology, radiobiology, neurobiology, immunology, human immunology, human biology, including the molecular basis of specific human pathologies and disease management.
Unsolicited scientific review articles
As an authoritative research analysis, a review article should critically examine published literature in a specific field. It should organize, evaluate, and identify patterns and trends, synthesize the literature, identify research gaps, and recommend new research areas.
A review article will only be considered if it is written by a verified expert with extensive knowledge based on original research in a particular subject area of study, which should be backed by self-citations in the field that is reviewed, not by self-citations of review articles or book chapters. Generally, reviews are best written by scientists who know the field.
Before submission, the author should contact the Editor-in-Chief to ensure the proposed review article is within the aims and scope of the journal. The author must provide (i) the title of the review paper; (ii) a detailed reason why in the light of the state of the art the review is needed; (iii) a brief description of the contents of the paper, including section titles and a list of references. Unpublished data must not be included in a review article. The Editor-in-Chief will evaluate the proposal and contact the author with a decision on the matter.
*
Subjects that are not considered by the journal include articles on in silico biology that are not supported by laboratory experiments. The journal requires that research be grounded in empirical data and that experimental findings be rigorously tested and reproducible. While in silico studies can be a valuable tool for generating hypotheses and testing theoretical models, they are preliminary to experimental research, rather than a substitute for it. Therefore, the Archives of Biological Sciences requires that in silico studies be accompanied by experimental data that support the conclusions drawn from the computational analyses. The journal requires some experimental validation or corroboration of the in silico results.
Subjects that fall under life sciences but that do not contain sufficient interest for the journal include topics in stomatology, subjects in food technology, veterinary science, agronomy, field experiments in agriculture, forestry, silviculture, soil science, descriptions of technological processes, experimental methods and solutions, instrumentation, technical reports containing chemical characterizations with no research into a biological explanatory mechanism, patient case studies, short faunistic or floristic notes, checklists of limited geographical areas (e.g. a country), description of a single new species in a genus that already contains many, articles describing new species on a single specimen.
https://www.serbiosoc.org.rs/arch/index.php/abs/announcement/view/46Journal Impact Factor for 20222023-07-04T12:21:50+02:00Archives of Biological Sciences2023-07-04T12:21:50+02:00https://www.serbiosoc.org.rs/arch/index.php/abs/announcement/view/45Issue 75(2)20232023-07-03T22:57:45+02:00Archives of Biological Sciences
Issue 75(2) contains articles on a range of subjects.

Yu et al. examine the regulatory mechanism of the Dracocephalum moldavica L. extract in intestinal inflammation in hypertension.

Veličkov et al. elucidate the role of the interstitial cells of Cajal and nerve fibers by examining their distribution in the rat stomach in diabetic gastro enteropathy.

The mechanism underlying the changes in cell cycle progression and cell proliferation in an environment of 2-fold elevated atmospheric pressure was studied by Son et al.

Using murine gammaherpesvirus 68 to obtain very large read-through transcripts, Kara concluded that qPCR should be supported by alternative methods such as northern blotting to identify the roles of the transcripts.

Milićević describes the results of studies of the dynamics of water hyacinth Eichhornia crassipes [Mart.] Solms growth under conditions of a moderate-continental climate for application in wastewater purification.

Dalyan describes the potential positive effects of the plant hormone 24-epibrassinolide on dithiocarbamate fungicide thiram-induced stress in tomatoes (Solanum lycopersicum Mill.).

The macrozoobenthos in the watercourse community of the Đerekarska River on the Pešter plateau is explored by Numanović et al.

The study of Marković et al. provides new data on the biology and distribution of the mud shrimp Upogebia pusilla in the south-eastern Adriatic, which configures benthic habitats and influences benthic communities.

Topal et al. describe the link between apifloral diversity and endemism in eastern Mediterranean honeybee forests of Türkiye in the context of planning biodiversity conservation.

Morozova and Shkute characterize the genetic structure of the population of the invasive species zebra mussel Dreissena polymorpha in Latvia, using microsatellites as molecular markers.
2023-07-03T22:57:45+02:00https://www.serbiosoc.org.rs/arch/index.php/abs/announcement/view/44New Issue 75(1)20232023-04-05T13:57:28+02:00Archives of Biological Sciences
Issue 75(1) contains articles on a range of topics in life sciences.
2023-04-05T13:57:28+02:00https://www.serbiosoc.org.rs/arch/index.php/abs/announcement/view/43New Issue 74(4)20222022-12-21T17:45:55+01:00Archives of Biological Sciences
The Archives of Biological Sciences is a multidisciplinary open-access journal that covers original research in life science.

Issue 74(4) contains articles in a range of subjects in cancer research, including a paper describing three newly identified long non-coding RNAs, AC077690.1, AL049874.3 and AP00137.1 closely associated with the PI3K-Akt-mTOR and FOXO signaling pathways which can serve as novel therapeutic targets in prostate cancer (Li et al.);
